The Board

RSPCA Darwin is directed by a skilled, local volunteer Board of directors who each bring expertise in their field to improve animal welfare in the Northern Territory.

  • Experience:

    Danny was elected Chair of the Board in 2017, having previously served since 2015 as a Board Member and Treasurer. He is also RSPCA Darwin’s nominee to the Board of RSPCA Australia.

    Danny is an experienced executive and currently leads project implementations in the Northern Territory Government. Previously he had an extensive career in the energy industry having worked at AGL, Origin, EnergyAustralia and Jacana Energy, and started his career in travel and tourism with one of Europe’s largest travel businesses, TUI.

    With a wealth of leadership experience across commercial, strategic, operations and transformation, Danny also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in IT & Marketing, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Engagement.

    Danny has been passionate about animals since a young age. Despite growing up inner city London, he has always had a range of pets including dogs, horses, goats and rabbits! Danny lives in Darwin with his husband Craig, and their spoilt dogs Molly and Buddy as well as their brood of hens.

    Danny was previously Treasurer of Mindil Beach Sunset Markets and Deputy Chair of Government House Foundation of the Northern Territory. Danny was also Alternate Chief Executive Officer at Jacana Energy.

  • Experience:

    Lea has lived in the NT since 1974.  She spent over 20 years in the NT Public Service, making her way up in the HR field and qualifying with an Advanced Degree in Management.  She then changed careers and worked in real estate, first with private companies and her last permanent position was with the Defence Housing Authority selling their excess stock.  She then retired from full time employment.  She continued for over 13 years as the President of the Alliance Française de Darwin, as well as other not-for-profit associations. Since 2005, she has worked in various areas, first consulting in HR, then as a nationally accredited Mediator, specialising in workplace disputes.  She still conducts some mediations as well as participating in her new interest as a Board Member.  As well as the RSPCA, she is a current member of the Agents’ Licensing Board and the National Medical Board as well as a member of the Animal Ethics Committee at CDU.
