Animal Ambulance Driver - RSPCA Darwin Regional Branch

Animal Ambulance Driver

RSPCA Darwin are currently seeking volunteers who would like to be part of helping get animals to and from the veterinary clinic, and in emergencies collect lost or injured animals to bring them to the shelter.

Working from our Berrimah Shelter (in a vehicle that we provide), your duties include scheduled trips to and from the veterinary clinic, plus emergency animal collections as the need arises.

We request a minimum commitment of one shift per week to help us plan the animal needs.

Shifts: Monday – Friday, 8.15am – 9.15am and 3pm – 4pm. Some flexibility is needed for when issues arise and trips may be slightly delayed.

Skills required –Manual driver’s license with a good driving record. Comfort handling large and small animals in stressed situations. Ability to take instruction, fill in paperwork, and a phone for being contacted.

What you get in return:

– Contact with a variety of domestic animals including dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and occasionally more exotic pets

  • Great opportunity to learn about the care and health requirements of domestic animals
  • Time to play and interact with the animals in your care
  • Opportunity to gain new skills and learn about the animal care industry
  • Helping animals in a way that the people with animal skills aren’t as good at!
  • Be part of a fun, engaged, passionate team
  • When it gets hot and you need a break, unlimited kitten cuddles to make the hard work worth it!
