RSPCA Darwin is directed by a skilled, local volunteer Board of directors who each bring expertise in their field to improve animal welfare in the Northern Territory.
Danny was elected Chair of the Board in 2017, having previously served since 2015 as a Board Member and Treasurer. He is also RSPCA Darwin’s nominee to the Board of RSPCA Australia.
Danny is an experienced executive and currently leads project implementations in the Northern Territory Government. Previously he had an extensive career in the energy industry having worked at AGL, Origin, EnergyAustralia and Jacana Energy, and started his career in travel and tourism with one of Europe’s largest travel businesses, TUI.
With a wealth of leadership experience across commercial, strategic, operations and transformation, Danny also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in IT & Marketing, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Engagement.
Danny has been passionate about animals since a young age. Despite growing up inner city London, he has always had a range of pets including dogs, horses, goats and rabbits! Danny lives in Darwin with his husband Craig, and their spoilt dogs Fred and Molly as well as their brood of hens.
Danny was previously Treasurer of Mindil Beach Sunset Markets and Deputy Chair of Government House Foundation of the Northern Territory. Danny was also Alternate Chief Executive Officer at Jacana Energy.
Arrived with family in Darwin for 2 years in 1971.
Volunteered with RSPCA in December 2011 and graduated to pooper –scooper on Monday mornings until appointment to the Board in 2015.

Tanya Izod is a third generation Northern Territorian with more than twenty-five years’ experience working in the aviation industry, specialising in aero medical and emergency services across both private enterprise and NT Government. Tanya is the Managing Director of Tanya Izod & Associates and has extensive experience in the areas of business performance, project management, contract and procurement management, and aviation operations extending across commercial and Government enterprises. Formally, as General Manager of CareFlight Northern Operations, Tanya held direct management of the Top End Medical Retrieval Service, providing emergency medical evacuations across the Top End of Northern Australia. Prior to joining CareFlight, Tanya spent eleven years in NT Department of Health, during which time she managed the NT Aero Medical Service and developed and implemented the new model for medical evacuation services in the Northern Territory, which resulted in the first fully integrated aero medical service in Australia. Prior to her entry into the NT Public Sector, Tanya spent 11 years in Ansett Australia as a senior Sales Executive, where she worked in contract management, tendering/procurement and sales and marketing. In addition to the RSPCA Board membership, Tanya is also the Deputy Chair of the Cancer Council NT, Chair of the NT Helicopter Rescue Network and a Member of the Top End Health Service – Regional Community Engagement Committee. Tanya has worked in Wildlife rescue for over 10 years, as a certified carer with NT Parks and Wildlife, specialising in Macropods (wallabies and possums) and currently shares her Howard Springs home with her chickens, a family of twelve wallabies and five possums. She has well-established professional networks within NT Government and non-government organisations, and strong links to the Territory, its families and history.
Lea has lived in the NT since 1974. She spent over 20 years in the NT Public Service, making her way up in the HR field and qualifying with an Advanced Degree in Management. She then changed careers and worked in real estate, first with private companies and her last permanent position was with the Defence Housing Authority selling their excess stock. She then retired from full time employment. She continued for over 13 years as the President of the Alliance Française de Darwin, as well as other not-for-profit associations. Since 2005, she has worked in various areas, first consulting in HR, then as a nationally accredited Mediator, specialising in workplace disputes. She still conducts some mediations as well as participating in her new interest as a Board Member. As well as the RSPCA, she is a current member of the Agents’ Licensing Board and the National Medical Board as well as a member of the Animal Ethics Committee at CDU.
Shae has a strong passion for the welfare of animals and community engagement. Shae has exceptional experience leading and managing both charitable and commercial organisations. She has a high level of skill coordinating and leading people towards best practices operations.
Erin has a strong background working across the animal industry with experience at Zoos, Guide Dogs Association and Animal Attendant experience. Erin is our animal behaviour specialist and works tirelessly to keep the operations running smoothly. She ensures that our animals are well cared for and that they find their forever homes.
Taylah has been with RSPCA Darwin for over 5 years, having started as a student volunteer, graduating to Animal Attendant, then being successful in gaining the Receptionist role. She is a skilled photographer of all our animals, dabbles in graphic design for our fundraisers, and keeps the administrative processes of the shelter running smoothly.
