Handle With Care Campaign

The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) is leading a global Coalition of animal welfare organisations who are running a campaign to end the long distance transport of animals for slaughter.
Locally the coalition is led by WSPA Australia and comprises RSPCA Australia, Compassion in World Farming and Animals Australia.

United against the unacceptable cruelty and suffering caused by transporting animals long distances, the global Coalition is seeking to ensure that animals destined for slaughter are not transported beyond one of the nearest available abattoirs.

The Coalition is calling on the Rudd Government to end the live export of animals for slaughter.
The Coalition is also calling on the Government to work to expand the current trade in chilled and frozen meat from animals that have been humanely transported and slaughtered in Australia.

The aim of the campaign is to end the live export of animals for slaughter, and the suffering inherent to the trade.
